Making The Unknowns Known

When your business takes on a new production order one of the immediate challenges is to ensure that all of the information you need to start the job is present.

I call this 'making the unknowns known'.

It is a pretty simple idea, however, one that I see businesses ignore time and time again.

It can be as simple as writing a checklist and may take only minutes to complete when a new order arrives.

Of course, the most appropriate application will be dependent upon what kind of business you operate, but the principle is the same.

Work out what all the unknowns are that can trip up the efficient, timely and profitable delivery of your products and services and ensure that you convert them to 'knowns' before you start.

Let's stop doing the same job twice and instead invest a few minutes to start a job off properly and save time (and money) in the long run.
