Does data flow around your business?

Where does your business data flow to?

Does it get shared, linked and used around your business?

Or, does it get produced and nothing happens to it?

If you answered 'nothing' then you aren't alone.

Apart from the frustration this causes, in terms of generating the data, you might be missing a huge opportunity to save time, generate meaningful management information and identify opportunities for improvement.

There are really two options in this situation:

  1. Work out how to share the data, to make it flow through the business, and also convert it into meaningful management information.
  2. Think long and hard about whether you need the data, and potentially stop gathering / generating it.
Data really can speed up how a business works, if it is deployed in the right places. If it isn't, then it could be argued that having it is just a drain on the business.

How does your business' data flow?
